Please note: The Greater Cleveland Athletic Association is located in the Clayton/Garner area of Johnston County, North Carolina. We are NOT in Cleveland, Ohio or Cleveland, Tennessee and we are NOT in Cleveland County, North Carolina. If you live in those areas you probably have reached this page in error and probably don't want to register your children to play with our club.... unless you don't mind the long commute to practices and games each week.
If you attempt to pay for a registration using a debit card and it is declined for some reason (typically due to an Address Verification System (AVS) mismatch of your entered zip code to what your bank has on file), your banking institution may place a “hold” on your funds equal to the amount of the transaction. Though your card is not actually charged this amount (i.e. GCAA will not be able to collect the money from your account and your registration will not be considered complete), the hold WILL decrease the available funds within your account. It can take several days for this hold to be released, depending on the card’s issuing bank. The release of funds is controlled by YOUR BANK... not GCAA. GCAA is NOT Responsible for any bounced checks or insufficient fund charges that you may experience due to failed transactions with your debit card.
MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS/DECLINES MAY CREATE ADDITIONAL HOLDS ON YOUR BANKING ACCOUNT. It is recommended that you use a credit card or other form of payment if your debit card transaction is initially declined. DO NOT ATTEMPT MULTIPLE CHARGES ON A FAILED DEBIT CARD!!!
Weather is unpredictable and can impact practices and games. Practices will not be made up but GCAA will make every effort to reschedule games and Academy showcases. Please understand that due to circumstances out of the control of GCAA, this is not always possible.
All players require a new uniform each Fall season. Uniforms will be re-used in the Spring. If your child played soccer in the Fall season at GCAA, he or she will use the same uniform as the Fall season. If your child did not play in the Fall, you will be required to purchase a uniform for the Spring season.
If you have lost the uniform or would like to purchase another uniform you will need to email email@example.com. If you make a request resulting in a team change for the Spring season, you will be required to purchase a new uniform.
You may try on uniform sizes at walk-in registrations (check walk-in dates). Please understand that no refunds will be issued if you order the wrong uniform size. Uniforms for U6-U12 includes jersey, shorts, and socks. See sizing chart below.
Fall: Registrations are end of May thru July. The season is mid-August thru October.
Spring: Registrations are end of November thru mid-January. The season is mid-Febrary thru April.
Travel Soccer Tryout Registrations are held once a year in May.
We no longer accept check payments for registrations. If you selected the pay later payment option when registering for a program you must either log back into your account before registrations close and pay with a credit card or you must attend a scheduled Walk-In Registration time for the selected program.
Typically the Walk-In Registrations are held in the GCAA Office buildng which is the main classroom building located behind the gym on the GCAA campus. The Walk-In Registration times and locations will be posted on each sport's page on this website and/or the Calendar on this website. You must pay with cash or by credit card during the Walk-In Registration. However, you will still be required to use this website to register your child. Limited computers are available at the Walk-In Registration times for parents to use to register their child(ren). Therefore, these Walk-In Registrations tend to be very busy so we encourage you to use our registration system and pay online with a credit card when registering.
We do our best to honor requests but CANNOT guarantee any specific team assignments for any player. You may request a teammate, a coach, or a practice day (or to avoid a day because of church, dance, scouts, or other prior commitments).
Understand that practice nights and coaches are not guaranteed to remain the same from season to season. A coach or parent may request a specific day for practice, but we again CANNOT guarantee consistency from season to season--not for teams as a whole, coaches, or players. If the day you practice is a deal-breaker (more important to you than the same team or coach) make sure you state such during registration.
Before registering for any programs, please read the GCAA Refund Policy.
In order to register for soccer you will need to create an account in our registration system. If you registered for soccer for Spring 2009 or any season after, or for any other sport at GCAA since October 2009, your account is still valid and you should be able to login using your email address and password. Select the red "Click Here To Register" button on this page to begin this process.
Once you create your account you will be able to add your child(ren) to your account. This system will then display the appropriate age division for your child. Our soccer programs are based on your child's birthdate relative to January 1st. This can be a bit confusing, but don't worry... if you enter your child's proper birthdate the system WILL put your child in the proper league.
If your child has not played soccer since before the Fall 2008 season, we will require a COPY (that we can keep) of your child's birth certificate.
Please remember, all Rec soccer registrations must now be paid online by Visa or Mastercard or you may bring cash to our walk-in registrations. We no longer accept checks for registrations.
REMINDER: GCAA can not exist without volunteers. We are ALWAYS searching for and in need of coaches, assistant coaches, and other volunteers. With more coaches we can limit team sizes which means the kids get more playing time. It does not matter if you have experience. We will help teach you to become a coach. The only way that your child can be guaranteed a spot on a team is if you volunteer to coach.
So if your child is placed on a WAITING LIST, that means we are waiting for more coaches to sign up. If you sign up to coach, you guarantee that your child gets to play this season along with several other kids in our community. Please help us and volunteer!
Our practice is to leave everyone wait-listed for each age division until two things happen: (1) a head coach is registered and (2) there are enough children to fill the team. Once a coach is registered, we will release and notify sufficient players (in the order they registered) to fill the team. This procedure continues as coaches register and sufficient players are signed up. It is rare that players are not released at some point before the end of late registrations. Unfortunately, it is quite common for wait-listed players to remain wait-listed throughout the early days of registrations and often near the tail end of the regular registration period.
Coaches and players register at various times—some early and others late—but mostly late. A majority of coaches and players tend to register close to the end of regular registrations, and, still quite a number of them during the last week of late registrations. But, as mentioned before, it is actually quite rare that parents do not eventually step up and volunteer to coach. We sometimes have to do a bit of poking and prodding, but the roles are eventually filled and players released and notified.
If you are wait-listed, you are guaranteed your place in line in the order you registered once a coach becomes available. Wait-listed players are not charged a late fee when it comes time to check out so long as they were added to the wait-list during the regular registration period and register within a couple days after being accepted / released from the wait-list. Registrants may need to ask for their late fee to be adjusted, however, before checking out under conditions where the late registration period began before being able to complete the registration check-out. If you do not log back in and check-out within a two or three days after being accepted from being wait-listed, your shopping cart may be deleted and someone else allowed to register in your place. You would then have to go through the steps or re-registering, and, possibly getting wait-listed again.
If you want to increase your child's chances of being released from the wait-list early, register early. If you want to nearly guarantee it, register early and volunteer to coach. We will help you get the training you need to fulfill the role including the option of setting you up with a mentor coach. Dates for group training will be forth coming. We are also willing to work with you one on one. We are confident that if you are available and willing, we can help you fulfill the role as coach. Plus we offer this coaching incentive.
If you have any additional questions regarding this subject, please email your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
